This last week of the start of earnings season has been volatile for my stock portfolio - for the most part volatile in the downward direction. I ma hoping by selling some call covered call options along with some other options strategies paired with my stock postions I will be able to turn around what has been a less than ideal week.
I have started to play around in the stock market with options. I am hoping to learn some more fundamental and technical analysis and develop a strategy that I can then duplicate using a ML algorithm.
I am currently invested in Amazon with some call options since the market greatly overreacted to the poor future outlook during their earnings report. If Amazon breaks above the 215.7 support level, I predict immense upside potential and expect the price to close above $220 by the end of the week. However, whether this will be enough to bring my position into the positive and my hoped-for profit is still in question.
My new strategy will consist of a much safer allocation of assets, primarily focusing on long-term stock options that do not expire for at least a week longer than my expected return date. I would rather pay more for the premium to obtain more time, since time has a great effect on the premium, since there is more chance for volatility in a longer time.
